Advanced diagnostic technology, digital mammography

Physicians Regional uses advanced imaging technology that can detect breast abnormalities at the earliest stages. Diagnostic techniques include:

• Digital mammography – Produces a sharp, clear computer image that provides more accurate screenings. Digital mammography is available at Physicians Regional.
• Breast MRI – Physicians Regional Women's Center is equipped with a Sentinelle Vanguard^™ breast table, which provides superior quality images and a more comfortable experience for patients.
• Ultrasound (sonography)
• Biopsy – When a lump or abnormal area is detected during screening, a biopsy can determine whether cells are cancerous. Advanced imaging technology — such as MRI or mammography — can be combined with minimally invasive techniques to obtain tissue samples.
