The Neuroscience Center at Physicians Regional
The Neuroscience Center at Physicians Regional Healthcare System integrates all physicians and other healthcare providers in neurosurgery and spine surgery to create a comprehensive center treating conditions and diseases of the brain and spine.
The 15,000 square-foot center opened in early 2009 at Physicians Regional’s Pine Ridge campus, and features an 18-bed inpatient unit with all private rooms and four ICU beds dedicated to neurosurgery patients. The state-of-the-art technology and equipment includes an image-guided surgery system called VectorVision®, made by the German company BrainLAB. This system provides the surgeon with flexible navigational ability and a three-dimensional view for precisely targeting brain tumors, as well as complete access to a patient’s medical records throughout the operating timeframe. It is the only system of its kind in Southwest Florida.
The Neuroscience Center also includes a multi-disciplinary spine surgery program called “The Spine Club.” Our team of neurosurgeons and orthopaedic spine surgeons are experienced in treating all areas of the spine and work with specialists in every facet of spine care, including neurologists, pain management specialists and physical therapists. Together, they work to diagnose your problem, and use their collective expertise to determine what treatment will provide the best outcome for you.

Since surgery is only the beginning of recovery, the Spine Club has developed a closely supervised rehabilitation program. Patients who undergo spine surgery are taught important skills, techniques and exercise that can help speed recovery and maximize their chance for long-term success. The Spine Club encourages camaraderie among all spine surgery patients – and every patient receives a Spine Club t-shirt.
When you enter our Neuroscience Center for treatment of a brain or spine condition, you can expect that you will benefit from our full attention and resources – including a team of specialists who are truly experts in their fields.
