Physicians Regional Healthcare System Redesigns Bonita Springs Site & Will Expand Primary and Specialty Medical Care

NAPLES, FL (April 18, 2012) – Physicians Regional Healthcare System (PRHS) has redesigned and remodeled its Walden Medical Center in Bonita Springs, Fla., and will expand Primary and Specialty Care services there in 2012.

The 22,000 square-foot medical facility -- known as Bonita II -- has a redesigned 10,000 square-foot first floor that features new medical suites, procedure rooms and common areas. A 3,000 square-foot Imaging Suite offers high-quality diagnostic imaging.  PRHS installed a Siemens 1.5 MRI and a new Siemens digital x-ray system was installed.

The site has added new MRI and x-ray staff with 45 years of combined diagnostic imaging experience. The diagnostic imaging cases at Bonita II is are reviewed by the experts at Naples Radiologists PA. Same day appointments are available for those with proper insurance verification.

Future plans at Bonita II call for adding two to five Primary Care and Specialty Care physicians during 2012. The remade facility provides state-of-the-art, medical care in southern Lee County in a prime location directly off U.S. 41.

“Prior to the redesign our Bonita Springs and Lee County patients traveled to Physicians Regional - Pine Ridge hospital in Naples for these high quality services,” said Todd Lupton, Chief Executive Officer of Physicians Regional Healthcare System.

The Physicians Regional Medical Group began practicing at the Walden Medical Center in 2008. The building is occupied by Rebekah Bernard, M.D. - Family Medicine; Heather Smith-Fernandez, M.D. - Interventional Pain Management; Aldo Bretta, M.D. - Orthopaedic Surgeon, Orthopedic Specialty Care Center; and Scott Greenburg, D.O. - Orthopaedic Surgeon, Orthopedic Specialty Care Center.

DeAngelis Diamond Construction, Naples, completed the extensive remodeling and redesign project. Gold Coast Design Studio of Fort Lauderdale, and the interior design firm Pierce Architectural Group, of Fort Lauderdale -- led by designer Vernon Pierce -- completed the interior.

The first floor utilizes a relaxing interior design and offers patients a calming and welcoming medical environment. Highlights include warm green color tones, accent walls and glass, decorative plants, botanical paintings and new furnishings. The exterior of Walden Medical Building was also redesigned with 16 additional parking spaces, new tropical landscaping and plantings, shade palms and signage. Plans call for remodeling the building’s 5,000 square-foot, second floor later this year.

PRHS has previously contracted with Pierce Architectural Group for interior design at its Pine Ridge hospital, and the company has worked on interior design at the headquarters of Health Management Associates, Inc. in Naples.
