PRHS-affiliated Physicians Named Among America’s Leading Doctors

Naples, FL- (Sep. 29, 2025) Four physicians on the medical staff at Physicians Regional Medical Center have been named among America’s Leading Doctors, a list compiled annually by Newsweek magazine. The list identifies 2,845 physicians, representing 15 specialties, from among the more than one million doctors practicing in the U.S. It is based on analysis of Medicare and commercial insurance claims, an online survey of medical professionals, peer quality-of-care assessments, and verification of board certifications

Drs. Susan Cera and Anthony Vernava, employed by Physicians Regional Medical Group, are the only colorectal surgeons from Collier County named on the list.

Independent orthopedic surgeon Steven Goldberg, M.D., is the only shoulder surgeon included from Collier County. Howard Kapp, M.D., is ranked among the top 15 knee surgeons. Drs. Goldberg and Kapp are two of 31 orthopedic surgeons practicing at Physicians Regional Healthcare System.
