Learning Experiences
Our program curriculum incorporates several block rotations typically lasting 4-5 weeks, giving trainees exposure to a wide variety of learning experiences throughout the 12 month residency program.
Learning experiences are sequenced such that areas of possible PGY2 specialization occur prior to the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting. Sequencing and scheduled experiences can be modified during the year based on resident interest.
Required Learning Experiences
Each of the following 4-5 week experiences are required for completion of the residency program:
- Pharmacy orientation
- Internal medicine
- Critical care
- Infectious diseases
- Pharmacy leadership
- Pharmacy informatics
- Inpatient rehabilitation
Longitudinal Experiences
Each of the following are required for completion of the residency program:
- Pharmacy practice - 12 months; requirements per residency manual
- Clinical leadership - 12 months; requirements per residency manual
- Research project - 12 months; requirements per residency manual
- Seminar - 4 month experience; requirements per residency manual
Elective Experiences - choose 3
The resident will choose 2 out of the following 4-5 week electives
- Advanced leadership
- Advanced critical care/nutrition
- Opioid stewardship
- Antimicrobial stewardship
Required Projects
- Research project
- Poster presentation at ASHP Midyear Meeting
- Presentation at Florida Residency Showcase
- Final project manuscript
- Medication use evaluation (MUE) project and presentation at P&T committee
- Meeting minutes and quarterly newsletter for P&T committee meeting (1)
- Meeting minutes and quarterly newsletter for AMS and opioid stewardship committee meeting (1)
- Resident seminar (ACPE presentation)
- Case presentations (3)
- Journal clubs (3)
- Nursing In-services (2)
Rotations may be subject to change as well as scheduling will be tailored to the wants of the individual residents upon the start of the residency program.
